Biography

Dora García (born 1965, Valladolid) is a Spanish contemporary artist who lives and works in Barcelona and Oslo. Her work is largely performance-based and deals with ideas of community and individuality in contemporary society. Exploring the political potential of marginal positions, she often pays homage to eccentric characters and antiheroes, who act as the protagonists of film projects such as The Deviant Majority (2010) and The Joycean Society (2013).

García represented Spain at the Venice Biennale in 2011 and participated in the Venice Biennale for the second time in 2013 (collateral events). García was also selected for the 56th International Art Exhibition, as part of the Venice Biennale in 2015. García has also participated in dOCUMENTA (13) in 2012, and other international events such as Skulptur Projecte Münster (2007); Biennale of Sydney (2008); and Bienal de São Paulo (2010).
